- Organization of departments: Entry-level and promotion positions
- Analysis of job advertisements

In the interactive one-day workshop "Communicating science and research effectively", up to 20 participants learn how to communicate their research content confidently and convincingly - in dialog with target groups such as university staff and scientists from other disciplines as well as representatives from the media, business, society and politics.
Participants benefit from practical experience from 25 years of science communication, marketing and journalism. Short impulses provide interesting information on the goals, target groups, methods, tools and quality criteria of science communication as well as the importance and application of storytelling.
Creative methods such as "Bullshit Bingo", "Scientific Speed Dating" and "Pitch Duel" encourage participants to produce their own formats. The subsequent discussion in a large group enables an intensive exchange of experience and knowledge, networking and, of course, good entertainment.
Format: 4 x 90 minutes of interactive group work and 45 minutes of discussion
Participants: TU Clausthal scientists (previous knowledge is advantageous, but not required).
Workshop leader: Ulrike Wolpers, science stories, journalist & author, Dipl. Biol., MSc in Science Marketing & Communication, trained ARD multimedia editor

Many people face difficult decisions at the end of their doctorate. Not only do they have to tackle their professional entry into the world of work, they also have to gain an idea of how they imagine a successful life with their profession. "The job that suits me" can provide valuable impetus and help with decision-making by helping them to assess their current situation.
Objectives of the workshop
At the end of their doctorate, most people reach a point where they want to critically question their own development path and examine the extent to which their idea of their future career matches themselves and their desired life situation. Specific questions could be:
- "I'm happy with my subject! What direction should my career take now? I don't yet have a concrete idea of the professional role in which I feel comfortable and could be successful."
- "I have the opportunity to join a company. Which one suits me - or which company do I actually fit in with?"
- "My professional focus is clear, but what interdisciplinary qualities actually make me special? What impulses do I want to set? What challenges do I enjoy and how can I get to the heart of the matter?"
- "I'm looking for a balance between my private and professional life. How can I achieve this?"
The focus of interest here is the desire to clarify one's own motives, abilities, inclinations and interests in order to be able to make well-founded professional decisions. To this end, they develop a clear profile.
The workshop "The job that suits me" offers doctoral students this clarification aid and creates an incentive to take a closer look at their career path and to network with other doctoral students.
Procedure
In the "The job that suits me" workshop, participants go through a location analysis and gain clarity about their own career goals. The aim is to develop a profile of values, interests, qualifications and skills in a short space of time and to clarify the question - what do I actually want and where should my professional journey take me next? Participants receive essential feedback on their strengths and weaknesses. It becomes clear to them which fields of activity are suitable or not.
During the workshop, participants learn the repertoire of "peer counseling" and form peer groups that continue to exist after the workshop and serve as a networking tool. The peer groups usually meet every six to eight weeks. During these meetings, the participants advise each other on their individual professional concerns. Beyond the
workshop, the peer groups offer support in clarifying professional issues as well as social support.
In order to support and promote the networking process, both peer groups have another appointment with the coach after about six months.

Junior academics and professors
Effective time management, sensible goals and priorities as well as well thought-out planning and implementation of tasks are among the most important skills for coping well with the diverse demands and often complex tasks in a university context. In addition to a high level of resilience, the work requires above all good tools in the form of practicable planning techniques, self-organization methods and relief strategies.
In this two-day workshop, you will learn how to realistically plan and coordinate your areas of activity (teaching, research, administration, dissertation, etc.). You will analyze and reflect on your personal working style, find suggestions for daily and weekly planning as well as for strategic planning, coordination and implementation of longer-term projects (e.g. project and annual planning). Our seminar motto is: Work smarter, not harder. At the end of the workshop, you will have numerous suggestions, techniques and action strategies that can be immediately integrated into your working life.
Objectives:
The participants...
- know their personal strengths and weaknesses in time management.
- know how best to set priorities and achieve their goals.
- gain valuable ideas for operational and strategic task management.
- develop individual action strategies for upcoming plans/projects.
- know and try out how to relax and balance work.
